I wish...
...these assholes would make up their fucking minds. About three weeks ago one of these medal adorned chumps said, in front of Congress, that Iraq was as close to civil war as he had ever seen. Two weeks later another comes along and says the violence in Baghdad is the lowest it's been in months. Then yesterday some report comes out that says it's an untenable situation. WTF?? Who's captaining this boat? If you have a family member over in Iraq you know what I mean. You talk to them, but they aren't gonna tell you the truth of the matter because they don't want you to worry. You can't rely on the MSM because all they report is the bad shit. I was listening to Rush yesterday and he had a sailor call in that had spent ten months training Iraqi soldiers and he said spirits were high, morale was excellent, and he would go back again if he was called to do so. Amazing!! He also said the Iraqi people were behind the troops 100% and don't want us to leave. What the fuck is going on over there? Nobody seems capable of giving us the straight skinny on this thing.
In some respects it doesn't surprise me. The older I get the more I realize that most things in life are shaded by blinds. It just depends on who has their hand on the thingy that adjusts how much light comes in. I'd like more light, but not to be. So I wake up every day and go to the picture of my nephew that rests on my wall with a copy of the marine prayer, that rests above a crucifix that I took out of my Dad's hand when he died, and I say this prayer...
Almighty God, keep them safe, give them strength and courage, wrap them in your veil of protection and keep them out of harms way. Bring them home safely, and give comfort to their families.
I don't know what else to do. I send care packages through Marine Parents and letters through MotoMail, but other than that I feel helpless. What's a motherfucker to do???

I heard the some of the same call on Rush's show. It is amazing how different the stories we hear from the media are from the folks who's lives are on the line over there. I trust the service personel and say fuck the media.
We do what we can, lucky bastard...
