If You've Never...

...had a relative or a friend that has been through chemo, you should go just for your own knowledge. I took my Dad for several of his treatments, but there is little chemo does for advanced PCa. He was administered mitoxantrone , which has very few side effects. But some of the patients there were seriously ill with anything from lung to liver cancer. And to see what this shit did to them is just mind boggling. Whomever came up with it had to be a demon of some sort. I would watch them get wheeled out in wheelchairs, incoherent and sick as could be. And the MD was cooking in his little kitchen. Bagels and cream cheese. There's irony in life, for sure. So if you know someone that has to go through it, go with them one time. It's an education you will never forget.

I had a friend who was going through chemo, but drove himself every day. He evidently had a version that wasn't as debilitating as some.
Anyway, my wife took him in and set up a bed in the family room so we could keep him company rather than him stay in a hospice.
It was an experience I would wish upon no one, but one - for his sake - where I am glad I could be such a friend.

Good luck with the houseboat! Sounds like something I could tolerate. :)

You are so right. My wife has undergone the heavy chemo once and thankfully, other than having all her hair fall out, she was NEVER sick from it.

She goes every three wks for follow up treatments but, thank God the lesions are pretty much the same as they were back then.

She has metastisized breast cancer which means she has lesions in her liver, spine, arm, shoulder, leg, liver and elsewhere but, so far...Thank God, she's been the exception to the rule.

The real problem is that you live your life waiting for the "other shoe" to drop.

Cancer is a cruel bitch.

Sad to hear, Ron. It is indeed one cruel motherfucka. Hope the other shoe stays on someone else's foot for awhile.
